“Letting Go” Release

On May 26th, 2012, I threw a party to release my first album, “Letting Go.” This was a big deal for me; I was excited and nervous. I wanted to record some of the songs I wrote over the years and share them with a few family members and friends. However, many encouraged me to have a CD release party, so I did!

I booked the upper level of The Old Triangle in Charlottetown and prepared for a small number of people to show up. Little did I know that the crowd was going to be huge. It was a full house. Even my sister had to wait in line up because it was at total capacity; I joked that she should have been there on time.

My brother Dwayne accompanied me for the evening. I was able to share the stories behind each song and perform them. At the end of the evening, my other brother Randy joined us on the stage and played more music to continue the party with lots of dancing.

I was overwhelmed by the response. I had dreamed about this, and it was finally coming to fruition. It felt surreal.

Now that music can be streamed, I am working on uploading my CD so anyone can access it. I sometimes take a long way around to completing things, or some may say it’s perfect timing. I don’t think I would have been ready to release my music on a larger scale back then; I had some healing to do, but now I feel like it’s perfect timing.
